Web Browser – is an application that is used to display websites.. Example : Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari

Website – is a collection of webpages..

Domain Name – is a name that is allocated to a website.. The domain name identifies

  1. the name of the company – for example – lookdesigns.net,
  2. the type of domain it is – for example – lookdesigns.net.. There are different types of domain extensions.. – for example .com = company, .net = network, .org = organisation, .biz = business etc,
  3. and in some cases the country that the domain is hosted in – for example – fullsail1.co.za where Full Sail1 is the name of the company and .co.za means a company based in South Africa..

Web Host – is a company that offers space on their servers to store the various webpages and files related to a certain website..

Internet – is a worldwide network that displays the millions of websites that have been hosted on the various webhosts..

Intranet – is similar to the Internet with the exception that the the Intranet is restricted to a closed network and not visible to people outside that closed network..

Hyperlink – is a link that (is usually underlined) directs or redirects the user to another webpage or website or document..

HTML Editor – is a software that is used to write or code the HTML required for a webpage to work..
